FRANK CORRADO CALLED UP WITH FAMILIAR FACE OSKAR SUNDQVIST FROM WILKES BARRE-SCRANTON! CORRADO MAY JUST BE WHAT THE PENGUINS NEED FOR DIVERSITY IN THE DEFENSE CORPS!

Frank Corrado: just another call up or is he just what the Penguins need for a more diverse defense group? If you look at Frank Corrado one could easily draw a conclusion, “Just another call up who will soon be back where he belongs!” But I see something more! It’s only been one game, but I like what I saw from Corrado! He’s physical, and that is not a commodity that this team has at the moment. So I went to, “hockey’s future”, which is a great resource for young hockey players, and I took a deeper look at Frank Corrado, or at least what you can look at by numbers. The first number I looked at was when he was drafted, 2011, so he is young, that’s a good number to have. Then, I looked at his experience, 61 NHL games. That is a lot of NHL experience; he’s been there done that and I think he’s hungry for more! Last number that I looked at was the date we required him, it was March 1. We acquired Frank Corrado from the Toronto Maple Leafs back then and it seems to be just the type of defense and we need to look for especially in physical matchup.   Drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL entry draft, Frank was a promising young defenseman, now I’m going on one game here; so, I do take a little bit of caution in saying this, however, I saw physical side to him that I think the Penguins are lacking in the defense of corps. Now the book on him is that he gets the puck out of his own quickly and if you notice that’s what Sullivan is all about in his coaching. They want to utilize their speed in order to do that, you need great defenseman who can skate, pass, and play good defense. At the moment we have cornered the market on offenseive defenseman and I say that even with Derek Pouliott having his troubles yet again. We have, Kris Letang, Mark Streit, and Justin Shultz! We also have great skating defensemen in Olli Maata, Brian Doumalin, and Ian Cole! Corrado is another good skater, he is also a good passer but if he always brings the physical side to his game, we could have a diamond in the rough! Now come tomorrow they will probably either trade him or send him down. But until then I say to Jim Rutherford, if it was him who pulled the trigger on Corrado, well done again sir!
